Impact of different types of microorganisms on nectar chemistry
Some microorganisms, especially yeasts but also bacteria, have made nectar their elective habitat. Their presence leads to an alteration of the nectar chemistry and consequently also affects the relationship with pollinators.
For this research line the MAEC Lab collaborates with: Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, University of Perugia; Leibniz Institute DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures, Braunschweig, Germany.
